If you're evaluating LED display vendors, these are the questions that actually predict whether the installation goes smoothly — and whether the wall still performs three years in.
1. What's the IP rating, if it's outdoor?
Outdoor cabinets need genuine dust and water ingress protection — IP65 at minimum, IP67 for direct weather exposure. Ask for the rating in writing, not just "it's outdoor-rated."
2. Who handles structural mounting?
LED walls are heavy and often go on facades, ceilings, or purpose-built frames. Confirm whether the vendor handles structural assessment and mounting engineering, or whether that's left to you to coordinate — that gap is where timelines and budgets usually break.
3. What's the actual brightness, and is it enough?
Indoor commercial spaces typically need 800–1500 nits; direct-sunlight outdoor installations need 5000+ to stay legible at midday. A wall that looks fine in a showroom can wash out completely in your actual space.
4. What does the warranty actually cover?
Panel defects, driver failures, and repair labour are three different things — make sure all three are covered, and for how long.
5. What's the service response after installation?
Ask what happens when a module fails: response time, whether spare modules are stocked locally, and whether calibration drift is covered under the service agreement.
6. Who calibrates the wall, and how often?
Colour and brightness calibration isn't a one-time install step — walls drift over time, especially with mixed sun exposure. Ask if live calibration is included beyond handover.
7. Is the content management system yours?
If the wall includes a CMS for scheduling content, confirm you retain full access and control — not locked into the vendor's platform indefinitely.
None of these questions are adversarial. A vendor who answers them clearly, in writing, is one who has done this enough times to know the answers matter.
